Three ANC Youth League provincial executive committee members in Mpumalanga have been suspended.
|||Three ANC Youth League provincial executive committee (PEC) members in Mpumalanga have been suspended, provincial chairman Kgotso Motloung said on Friday.
The members were suspended for ill-disicpline, after they “caused chaos” at an Mpumalanga provincial general council, said Motloung.
They had also taken delegates from the ANC Youth League's national conference earlier this year to stay in a hotel, which was not organised by the national executive committee.
Motloung said one of the three had also released a statement to the media saying he “hated” ANCYL president Julius Malema.
Earlier on Friday, there were rumours that the members had been “fired” by Malema – who is appealing against a five year suspension – and that the entire Mpumalanga PEC was threatening to resign.
Motloung said this was not true.
“The members were suspended by the provincial leadership at a meeting yesterday (Thursday),” he said.
“Only members who do not agree with the suspension have threatened to resign, not the whole PEC. We haven't received any resignation letters yet,” said Motloung – Sapa
