A police officer has been arrested in Uitenhage in connection with possession of drugs.
|||A policeman was arrested in Uitenhage on Friday in connection with possession of drugs, Eastern Cape police said.
The constable, 29, was arrested around 7.30am after tik was found on the driver's seat of his car, said Lieutenant-Colonel Priscilla Naidu.
Police received a tip off and tried to stop the officer as he was driving.
“The officer then sped off and back-up was requested,” said Naidu.
The vehicle was eventually stopped in Whitehead Street in Uitenhage.
The tik had a street value of about R150.
The officer was charged with possession of drugs and would appear in court soon. – Sapa
