A 60-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the brutal death of a Zululand dance teacher.
|||The Zululand community was devastated to learn about the brutal death of dance teacher, Carolyn Frara, 56.
A 60-year-old man, who was known to the victim, has been arrested after Frara was found dead at her Empangeni home on Thursday evening, said police spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane.
“She was stabbed six times, in the stomach and in the head,” said Zwane.
He could not confirm who notified the police about the death, but said it happened at 6.30pm. The suspect was in police custody and expected to appear in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Frara, who ran The Dance Academy, had taught dance for three decades.
Kim van der Merwe, a co-worker and close friend who helped choreograph several shows with Frara across the country, described her as a “creative mind”.
“She was passionate about what she did. We are all just devastated by her death. It’s a very big loss.”
Another close friend, Sue Motzouris, said Frara gave young people the opportunity to showcase their creative talent. “I’ve known Carolyn for 34 years. I danced with her and so did my children. She was such a brilliant, creative spirit,” said Motzouris. - Daily News
