An argument on the M4 in Durban has left a man dead, after a truck driver allegedly shot him before driving off.
|||A man was shot dead on the M4, near the Montclair off-ramp, in what was believed to be an act of road rage.
Police Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said a truck driver apparently had an argument with another motorist at about 12.45pm on Wednesday.
“It is alleged that the other motorist stopped his vehicle in front of the truck and alighted. When he approached the truck, the truck driver allegedly shot him. The truck driver sped off and the man died at the scene,” he said.
Cobus Esterhuizen, operations manager of Parks Patrol whose guards were among the first officials at the scene, said they had learnt that the dead man was from Joburg.
It was unknown why he was in Durban.
When The Mercury visited the scene, traffic was beginning to build up on the freeway.
The man’s body lay covered in a blanket just after the off-ramp to Montclair.
Mdunge said the truck driver had not been found and Brighton Beach police were investigating a case of murder. - The Mercury
