A Durban man is lucky to be alive after being swept away during flash floods.
|||A man had to be rescued during severe flooding at Amanzimtoti, on the south coast of Durban, on Sunday evening. It’s thought that the man was driving along Long Acres Drive in the Doonheights area, when his vehicle became stranded as he tried to drive through a puddle. A local resident who witnessed the vehicle disappear, later told emergency rescue crews that he grabbed a surfboard and swam out to the vehicle, where he pulled the driver out through a window. Netcare911 paramedics and police search and rescue units were at the scene to treat the man and ensure that no other people were trapped in the water.
Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha said, “...it took about 40 minutes for the water to subside before the road was re-opened.” - IOL
